Image Description

Treatment & Prognosis: Struma ovarii is an indolent tumor, even in the presence of malignant transformation (seen in about 10% of cases). The treatment is oophorectomy, along with removal of any extraovarian implants (strumosis). Long term follow-up is necessary. Large, solid tumors, and those associated with peritoneal adhesions or ascites are at a risk of recurrence.
