Image Description

Lymphangiomas are considered to be developmental malformations of lymphatic tissue. The sequestered tissue does not communicate normally with the lymphatic system resulting in fluid accumulation. Most cases manifest early in life. Some cases arise secondary to lymphatic obstruction caused by surgery, radiation, or infection. The image shows a large intra-abdominal lymphangioma.
