Gross Pathology: Atypical lipomatous tumor/well-differentiated liposarcomas (ALT/WDLs) are large, multilobulated masses. The appearance on cut surface depends upon the tumor subtype. Lipoma-like ALT/WDL shows abundant yellow adipose tissue resembling massive lipomas. Sclerosing ALT/WDL usually have a pearly white or greyish-white firm surface. Most cases show an admixture of mature adipose tissue and pink-tan fibrous bands. In addition, there may be gelatinous foci and punctate hemorrhages.
