Image Description

Microscopic Features of Calcifying Aponeurotic Fibroma (continued from the previous image): The fibromatosis-like areas (shown here) are variably cellular and consist of uniform, plump, fibroblasts and myofibroblasts with round to oval nuclei and ill-defined cytoplasmic borders. The cells are arranged in linear, swirling, cartwheel or whorled patterns and may occasionally show nuclear palisading. There is no cytologic atypia. Mitotic activity is not increased. The background consists of dense collagenous stroma.
