Image Description

Mazabraud syndrome consists of fibrous dysplasia (usually polyostotic form) with multiple intramuscular myxomas affecting the same anatomical region.

Case history: 40 y/o male with hip pain. No history of trauma. The distal femur and tibia are grossly abnormal and show changes of fibrous dysplasia consisting of diffuse areas of ground-glass opacity, soap-bubbly trabeculation, endosteal irregularity, cortical thinning and moderate osseous expansion. The epiphyses are spared and there is no periosteal reaction. MRI scan showed 3 distinct intramuscular myxomas in the vastus medialis muscle near the affected areas of femur. Same case as the previous three images.
