Image Description

Uric acid crystals are water-soluble and are dissolved during regular specimen processing. In formalin-fixed tissues, gouty tophi appear as large amorphous deposits in the dermis and subcutaneous tissues surrounded by granulomatous inflammation and foreign body giant cells.
