Chordoma - Morphology: Chordoma permeates marrow spaces in between preexisting bony trabeculae. It frequently erodes through the cortex to form well-demarcated soft tissue masses. There are four histologic subtypes: conventional, chondroid, de-differentiated and poorly-differentiated chordoma.
The conventional chordoma has lobular growth pattern with thin fibrous septa dividing the lobules. The lobules are composed of large epithelioid or vacuolated cells arranged in cohesive clusters, nests, or cords in a background of abundant basophilic myxoid matrix.
