Image Description

This MRI scan is from a young male who presented with headaches. There is large heterogenous enhancing mass occupying the frontal lobe. It shows a cystic component with peripheral enhancement. Histology showed a typical gemistocytic astrocytoma. These tumors are almost always supratentorial and usually located in the frontal lobe. Although considered WHO Grade II tumors, they are more aggressive and have poorer prognosis than other matched WHO grade tumors.
