Image Description

Tryptase, a neutral serine protease, is the most abundant protein in the secretory granules of mast cells. Antibodies to tryptase are a useful adjunct to routine histology in detecting mast cells in normal and neoplastic conditions.

The image shows tryptase immunostain in a skin biopsy from a case of cutaneous mastocytosis.
