Pulmonary LCH : CD1a
Image Description
Immunohistochemical Profile of Pulmonary Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH) is similar to that seen in other locations and has been discussed previously.
Langerhans cells are positive for: CD1a (surface and paranuclear staining); langerin (CD207) (granular cytoplasmic staining); and S 100 protein (nuclear and cytoplasmic). This highly specific panel has largely replaced ultrastructural demonstration of Birbeck granules for the diagnosis of LCH.
