Image Description

Large intestine is the third most common location for gastrointestinal lymphomas accounting for between 10% and 20% of cases. Lymphomas comprise approximately 0.5% of all colonic malignancies. The portion most commonly affected by lymphomas is the cecum followed by rectum; other portions of the colon are rarely involved. The most common histologic subtype is diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. The lymphoma cells diffusely infiltrate in between intestinal crypts and distort the native archcitecture as shown here.
