Image Description

Simultaneous follicular lymphoma (left half of the image) and classic Hodgkin lymphoma (right half) in the same lymph node. The monomorphic follicles are surrounded by a relatively normal-appearing interfollicular region. The lighter eosinophilic areas on the right showed Reed-Sternberg cells in a mixed inflammatory infiltrate.

In some cases, single cell PCR analysis of neoplastic cells from the two components have shown identical IgH gene rearrangements but different mutational profile, suggesting that after their origin from a common precursor, they diverged at the germinal center centroblast stage.
