Image Description

Lymphocyte-rich Classic Hodgkin Lymphoma: The nodular variant of lymphocyte-rich classic Hodgkin lymphoma is composed predominantly of B cells. Regressed germinal centers, similar to those seen in Castleman disease, may be present. The neoplastic cells - classic Reed-Sternberg cells - are scattered singly in the expanded mantle zones. Other inflammatory cells such as eosinophils, neutrophils, and plasma cells are rare.

Cells resembling LP cells with folded or multilobated nuclei (a feature usually seen in nodular lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin lymphoma) may be present. Two LP-like cells are present in this image. CD30 and CD15 immunohistochemistry is quite helpful in distinguishing these cases from NLPHL. LP cells of NLPHL are negative for both CD30 and CD15.
