Microscopic Features: Peripheral ossifying fibroma consists of a dense fibroblastic proliferation associated with mineralized matrix. This low magnification view shows a soft tissue mass lined by squamous mucosa with bone formation in its deeper portion. The mass is partially ulcerated.
