Most patients are middle-aged or elderly women, but it can occur in children. It is associated with autoimmune disorders and certain HLA types. Histologic features include thinning of epidermis, presence of a broad bundles of hyalinized collagen in the dermis, and band-like lymphocytic infiltrate.
