Image Description

Architectural Patterns in Adult Granulosa Cell Tumor of the Ovary: Microfollicular is the most characteristic and easily recognized architectural pattern and is seen in 30-50% of cases. Its hallmark is rosette-like structures that resemble Call-Exner bodies of the Graafian follicle. They consist of small round spaces filled with eosinophilic cellular debris or hyalinized basement membrane material surrounded by multiple layers of granulosa cells. Notice the grooved nuclei with coffee-bean appearance. Call-Exner bodies can sometimes be recognized in fine needle aspirates.
