Ovary: Small Cell Carcinoma of Hypercalcemic Type: Most cases have mutations in the SMARCA4 gene. This gene encodes BRG1 protein which plays a role in SW1/SNF chromatin remodeling complex.
Loss of immunoreactivity for SMARCA4/BRG1 (shown in this image) is specific for this tumor. There may also be loss of BRM (another protein of SW1/SNF complex) encoded by SMARCA2 gene.
