Image Description

Gross Pathology: The tumor size ranges from microscopic to 8-10 cm. Pure gonadoblastomas are small (microscopic to 3-5 cm) and may not be apparent grossly. The cut surface is solid, yellow-tan, and nodular with gritty calcified areas. Some tumors are completely calcified. Gonadoblastomas associated with a malignant germ cell tumor (GCT) are much larger and the gross appearance depends upon the type of invasive GCT.

This gross specimen photograph shows a dysgerminoma arising in a dysgenetic gonad. Image courtesy of Dr. Jean-Christophe Fournet, Paris, France; humpath.com; Used with permission.
