Image Description

Microscopic Features of Ovarian Carcinoids - Insular Pattern: The insular pattern consists of solid islands and nests of tumor cells separated by hyalinized or loose stroma. The islands/nests may show acini at the periphery creating a fenestrated or cribriform appearance. Some of these acini appear glandular or tubular. The overall appearance resembles intestinal (midgut) carcinoids seen in the appendix and small bowel.
