Treatment & Prognosis: Embryonal carcinomas of the ovary are highly aggressive tumors and usually present at advanced stage with extraovarian dissemination. Surgical treatment includes unilateral oophorectomy along with debulking of all visible tumor. This is followed by cisplatin-based chemotherapy to which these tumors are highly sensitive. Serum beta-hCG levels are monitored for recurrences.
