Image Description

Microscopic Features of Mixed Germ Cell Tumors: (continued from the previous image). Foci of yolk sac tumor are often missed as they can be subtle. Immunostaining with glypican 3 can be helpful. Separation of embryonal carcinoma from seminoma is usually not difficult. Embryonal carcinoma shows greater nuclear pleomorphism, nuclear overlapping, numerous apoptotic bodies, and immunoreactivity for CD30.

This image shows mature teratoma consisting of hyaline cartilage on the upper right and squamous epithelium on the upper left. Seminoma is present on the lower left.
