Seminomas usually have a homogenous gross appearance. Some tumors, however, are extensively necrotic and may have a variegated appearance. In this case, the cavity was filled with hemorrhagic fluid and necrotic tumor fragments. Extensive sampling of the tumor is recommended in such cases to rule out the possibility of non-seminomatous germ cell components.
