Numerous immunohistochemical markers have been detected in small cell carcinomas. They include NSE (shown here), chromogranin, synaptophysin, ACTH, serotonin, HCG, calcitonin, TSH, and inhibin. A small proportion of these tumors do not stain for any neuroendocrine markers.
