Image Description
Multicystic Kidney Dysplasia (MKD): The interstitium around the cysts contains sparse number of immature tubules and ducts that are surrounded by collarettes of primitive smooth muscle cells expressing estrogen and progesterone. The tubules are lined by a single layer of undifferentiated cuboidal or columnar epithelium that may be thrown into papillary folds. Small number of normal, atrophic, or immature glomeruli are also usually seen. This image shows a few abortive/immature glomeruli on the upper right.
