Image Description
Clinical Features: Most simple renal cortical cysts are asymptomatic and detected at autopsy or incidentally on imaging studies performed for other reasons. Radiographically, they may mimic a renal neoplasm. Infrequently, they develop hemorrhage or infection and produce symptoms. This image shows an 11 cm simple cortical cyst that was an incidental finding at autopsy despite its large size. Long-standing cysts may develop thick, trabeculated, partically calcified walls as seen in this case.
