Image Description

Prognosis: Most horseshoe kidneys are asymptomatic and discovered incidentally on imaging studies. The vast majority of patients develop no new symptoms after the diagnosis. In adults, renal cell carcinoma and other renal cancers have been reported in horseshoe kidneys; however, the incidence is similar to that in the general population. On the other hand, Wilms tumors occur more frequently in patients with horseshoe kidneys as compared to the general population.
