Image Description

Classic Morphologic Pattern in Clear Cell Sarcoma of Kidney: In its classic form, the clear cell sarcoma of kidney (CCSK) consists of nests, cords, and sheets of somewhat monomorphic tumor cells with scant cytoplasm and a high nucleus:cytoplasmic ratio. The tumor has a prominent network of delicate vasculature (chicken wire pattern similar to that seen in myxoid liposarcoma). The term "Clear Cell" is a misnomer since the clear cell appearance is caused not by the cytoplasm but is the result of optically clear mucopolysaccharide matrix in between the tumor cells.
