Image Description

Primary well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumor of the kidney: For patients with organ-confined disease, the treatment usually consists of nephron-sparing surgery. Adjuvant therapy is given to those with metastases, usually to lymph nodes, liver, lungs, and bone. The image shows metastasis to para-aortic lymph node from a primary well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumor of the kidney. Even with metastases, the tumor pursues a prolonged clinical course and results in death only in rare cases.
