Renal hemangioma: This image shows extramedullary hematopoiesis in an anastomosing hemangioma of the kidney. A possible megakaryocyte is seen in the center, surrounded by clusters of erythroid precursors with hyperchromatic nuclei. Immunohistochemically, the lining endothelium of hemangiomas is positive for CD31, CD34, factor VIII-Ra, and FLI1 and negative for GLUT1, D2-40, CD8, and HHV8.
