Image Description

Renal hemangioma may be sporadic or occur in the setting of congenital disorders such as Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome, Sturge-Weber syndrome, or systemic angiomatosis. Most of the patients are young to middle-aged adults. The tumors may be asymptomatic and discovered incidentally or present with hematuria, flank pain, and abdominal mass (especially in children). Most cases tend to be small, measuring 1-2 cm in diameter. Macroscopically, they appear as a sharply defined, red-tan, spongy mass (as seen in this image) or as an ill-defined, dark red, dusky lesion.
