Image Description

Case History: The patient was an adult female who presented with several months' history of intermittent abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and weight loss. More recently, she had developed jaundice and dark urine. Imaging studies suggested narrowing of distal common bile duct (CBD) with proximal dilatation, highly suspicious for carcinoma. At laparotomy, a hard mass was found in the intrapancreatic portion of the CBD. A Whipple procedure was performed. The specimen showed a 1.9 cm firm, yellow-white mass in the distal CBD. The final diagnosis was Granular Cell Tumor. All four images are from this case.
