Image Description

Given the location, granular cell tumors of the common bile duct produce obstructive symptoms. The microscopic features are similar to those seen elsewhere. They contain sheets of polygonal cells with abundant granular eosinophilic cytoplasm. There is strong immunoreactivity for S100, CD68, and calretinin. The overlying glandular epithelium may show hyperplasia.
