Gallbladder Dysplasia - Grading: Dysplasia is graded as low-grade or high-grade based on the degree of cytologic atypia in the gallbladder epithelium. The image shows high-grade dysplasia. The cytologic atypia is categorized as indefinite if it does not reach the threshold for dysplasia or if atypia is present in the setting of ulceration, inflammation, or artifactual distortion (technical reasons).
Macroscopic Features: Gallbladder dysplasia is inconspicuous grossly. The mucosa may appear totally normal or slightly hyperemic. If there is extensive papillary architecture, the mucosa may have granular, velvety, or feathery appearance.
