Image Description

Grossly, most cases of Hashimoto thyroiditis shows diffuse and symmetric enlargement of the thyroid. The cut surface is yellowish-gray and firm. In some cases, the enlargement is multinodular and may even show one or two dominant nodules (as seen here). When such dominant nodules are composed of usual follicular or Hurthle cells, the term follicular or Hurthle cell adenoma may be applied.
