Hashimoto Thyroiditis

In chronic cases of Hashimoto thyroiditis, squamous metaplasia of follicular cells may occur creating squamous nests. Hashimoto thyroiditis is the most common cause of hypothyroidism in areas where Iodine levels are sufficient.
