Melanoma : Age at Diagnosis

Melanomas usually occur after puberty and are more common in males (M:F = 3:2). They are most frequently diagnosed between the ages of 65-74 yrs. However, pediatric melanomas do occur and account for about 3% of all pediatric cancers. In children, they are often associated with one of the risk factors, such as xeroderma pigmentosum, congenital nevus, familial dysplastic nevus or familial melanoma, and immunosuppressive state.
