Acral Lentiginous Melanoma

Ulceration in an acral lentiginous melanoma (same case as the previous image). The appearance of bleeding and ulceration in a melanoma indicates a rapidly growing tumor with potentially poor prognosis. The dermal (invasive) component consists of dense sheets of spindle-shaped melanocytes.
