In some cases, it may be difficult to differentiate porocarcinoma from other cutaneous malignancies such as squamous cell carcinoma. This is especially true when squamous metaplasia is present. Identification of cuticle-lined ducts (left) can be a helpful clue pointing towards eccrine differentiation.
