Comments:
Higher magnification of the previous image showing signet ring cells floating in pools of mucin either singly or in small clusters. The involved appendix may show thickening, chronic inflammation, and ulceration. Patients may present with acute appendicitis, perforation of the appendix, or as an ovarian mass in females secondary to metastases to the ovary. Some cases present with pseudomyxoma peritonei.
