Comments:
Cytomegalovirus (CMV) Colitis: Viral inclusions are seen in at least two cells in the lamina propria. In addition to viral cytopathic effects, one may see ischemic necrosis and ulceration of the overlying mucosa. In severely immunocompromised patients, the inflammatory response may be minimal.
