Comments:
This multicystic nephroma was almost 8.0 cm in size with individual cysts ranging in size from 0.5 cm to 3.0 cm. The cysts do not communicate with each other or with renal pelvis. In children, multicystic nephroma is viewed as a fully differentiated variant of Wilms tumor. Multicystic nephroma must be differentiated from cystic variant of Wilms tumor with which it shares some histologic features. The presence of solid areas of nephroblastomatous elements not molded by cystic spaces favors Wilms tumor (cystic variant).
