Comments:
Small cysts surrounded by ovarian-type stroma are more frequently seen in mixed epithelial and stromal tumor of the kidney than in multicystic nephroma. On the basis of similiarities in clinical, morphologic, and molecular features, it has been proposed that multicystic nephroma and mixed epithelial and stromal tumor of the kidney represent morphologic spectrum of the same pathologic entity. Accordingly, some authors have proposed using Renal Epithelial & Stromal Tumor (REST) as a unifying term for both lesions.
