Comments:
Treatment: Lipoblastoma is benign neoplasm with an excellent prognosis. Many bonafide cases diagnosed on biopsies mature to ordinary lipomas or fibrolipomas. The standard treatment consists of wide local excision. Recurrences occur in 15-45% of cases, mostly in patients with diffuse lipoblastomatosis. Recurrences may be delayed by several years, necessitating long-term follow-up with imaging studies (ultrasound, MRI). Some cases are locally aggressive with multiple recurrences; however, they also respond to re-excision. It has no malignant potential and no risk of metastasis.
