Category: Spleen

slide 4 of 7

Comments:
The patient was a 75 y/o male with history of myelodysplastic syndrome. He died after a brief febrile illness. Autopsy showed a massively splenomegaly with multiple abscesses. Sections show necrotic granulomas teeming with acid-fast bacilli consistent with Mycobacterium avium-intercellulare.   return to Infection / Inflammation
