This specimen of lactating adenoma was removed from a 22 y/o post-partum female who presented with a painless, well-circumscribed mass in upper outer quadrant of her left breast. The patient had been breast-feeding her baby for the last 8 months. The cut surface shows fleshy, solid areas as well as small cysts which are filled with yellow-white milky secretion. Microscopically, the lesion was composed of compact lobules showing secretory activity. Apical cytoplasmic blebs and fraying of the luminal borders of the cells were also present.
