Comments:
Mixed gallstones in a cholecystectomy specimen. Mixed stones contain a significant amount of cholesterol (at least 50%) admixed with precipitates of amorphous calcium bilirubinate and small amounts of calcium carbonate and calcium phosphate. They often have darker or layered appearance due to bilirubin pigment.
