slide 4 of 16

Chronic hepatitis B infection often results in cirrhosis with nodules of damaged and regenerating hepatocytes separated by fibrous bands containing chronic inflammatory cell infiltrates. The damaged hepatocytes are enlarged with ground-glass cytoplasm (containing abundant hepatitis B surface antigen particles) and bile pigment accumulation.
