Intraductal Papillary Neoplasm of Bile Duct with Invasive Carcinoma

Intraductal Papillary Neoplasms of the Bile Duct (IPNBs) with Invasive Carcinoma: IPNBs usually show high-grade dysplasia and are frequently associated with invasive carcinoma. At the time of resection, approximately 50% of cases show invasive component, which usually is pancreatobiliary type with well to poorly-formed tubular structures in a desmoplastic stroma. Some cases show mucinous pools (colloid carcinoma) or neuroendocrine phenotype. This image depicts high-grade dysplasia in an IPNB. There is no stromal invasion.
