Comments:
Treatment: Treatment is not a consideration in most cases since cholesterolosis is rarely diagnosed before removal of the gallbladder. In the rare case that gets diagnosed on imaging studies, no intervention is required unless biliary symptoms are present. If the patient has biliary pain or has experienced pancreatitis, cholecystectomy is performed.
