Primary Breast Angiosarcoma : Differential

Differential diagnosis of low-grade angiosarcoma of breast (shown here): It includes benign hemangioma and angiolipoma. Angiosarcomas show destructive vascular proliferation that dissects breast lobules and fat. Hemangiomas and angiolipomas are small (usually < 2 cm) and are sharply demarcated from the normal breast parenchyma. They lack cytologic atypia or infiltrative growth pattern, unlike angiosarcomas. Benign vascular lesions also lack endothelial proliferation, tufting, and papillary growth pattern, all of which are commonly seen in angiosarcomas.
